A device used to separate oil from oily water mixtures and from the emulsion. Bilge separators are necessary aboard vessels to prevent discharge of oil overboard while pumping out bilges or while cleaning oil tanks. An oilcontent monitor is provided to measure continuously the oil content of the effluent. If the set limit of the oil content is exceeded, the effluent is automatically recirculated to the collecting tank, or the separator is stopped.

The main purpose of the oily water separator is to separate the hydrocarbons from oily water coming from the bilge of a ship and deliver a cleaner effluent that can be discharged overboard according to IMO MEPC 49 regulation.
The OWSAN series uses a coalescent filter in the first stage to separate the hydrocarbons by gravity and an adsorption filter in the second stage acting as emulsion breaker. Furthermore, spare parts replacement and maintenance needs are minimum. Renowned clients like DSME, Hyundai HI, Samsung and Total Offshore have experienced the engineering capabilities of Detegasa for special offshore projects, with different hazardous zone requirements and specific logistic needs.
The OWSAN Oily Water Separator will more than meet the strictest regulations requirements, as demonstrated in the final tests, where a reduction well below 2ppm was obtained. Next week Detegasa will be attending Europort From November , Europort is organized in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Europort is Detegasa representatives will travel next week to Sydney, Australia, to be present at Pacific , the biennial Pacific International A team of people from Detegasa will be in the Neva exhibition which will take place in St Petersburg
Bilge Oily Water Separator
A ship produces oil and water mixture on a daily basis which needs to be separated from each other, before discharging the dirty water out of ship using equipment such as oily water separator. It is now a requirement for all vessels to have an oil discharge monitoring and control system along with an oil filtering equipment known as the Oily Water Separator OWS. Even for PSC inspectors and surveyors, oily water separator OWS has always been a preferred choice of machinery on the ship for inspection. Hence, it is imperative to know and understand the basics of oil and water separator design and how an oil and water separator works. Related Reading: How to operate an oily water separator? As the name indicates, the function of oily water separator is to separate maximum amount of oil particles from the water to be discharged overboard from engine room or cargo hold bilges, oil tanks and oil-contaminated spaces.
Crystal Marine Oily Water Separator – Bilge Water
An oily water separator OWS marine is a piece of equipment specific to the shipping or marine industry. It is used to separate oil and water mixtures into their separate components. This page refers exclusively to oily water separators aboard marine vessels. They are found on board ships where they are used to separate oil from oily waste water such as bilge water before the waste water is discharged into the environment. Bilge water is a near-unavoidable product of shipboard operations. Oil leaks from running machinery such as diesel generators, air compressors, and the main propulsion engine.
