I hadn't been made this emotional by a book in months! Seriously, I'm just giving this all the stars because I was bouncing around in my seat, bursting with so many different emotions while reading: sad, happy, worried, excited, heartbroken, swooningI was all over the place! This comic doesn't even have words, and I freaking cried. It was so not what I was expecting after the first volume, which was basically a sill 5 Stars Review: This volume went in all sorts of directions I wasn't expecting!
It was so not what I was expecting after the first volume, which was basically a silly steampunk porno. But before I get there, I've a few things to mention. I mean itif you didn't love Vol. Third, this one was significantly less porn and more story though still some porn, so do expect some explicit pages.
But what really took me by surprise wasn't any of that, it was how much emotion and depth and even plot there was. This added a lot of depth to the characters by showing us the backstory for them and for all the events in Vol. In Vol.
I literally said, "Awwwwww! Even though I probably shouldn't have since they were both cheating on their wives. But guys, they were just so adorable and fictional that I couldn't bring myself to care, as bad as that sounds. I literally had like three whole tears fall down my face, which, for me, is a lot since I don't cry from books. And then I felt even worse for Robert and understood why he pushed Priscilla away. But then all the sudden, when it got to the part that took place after Vol.
Well, not really, but kinda. Maybe, actually. But also a lovable sweetheart. No wonder both Isabelle and Robert fell for him. And he totally looked like a pirate in that one panel with his eye patch and missing arm and the way he was drinking alcohol straight from the bottle, which isn't really relevant but is something I felt like mentioning nonetheless. One last thing, I think it's so neat how the artist was able to convey so much without using any dialogue.
The lack of words forced me to focus more on the drawings, and the author really used the visual medium to her advantage since there was no dialogue to rely on. And I totally found myself making up my own dialogue in my head sometimes lol.
Overall, this was maybe a little silly and not particularly realistic but still emotional and sweet and fun and beautifully illustrated in a stylistic kind of way and I ADORED it! Anyone who wants a story that's a little silly, a lot erotic, but ultimately emotional, fun, and sweet. Anyone who wants to try something that is like a comic, steampunk, silent film, and porn all rolled into one. Original Review Metaphors and Moonlight First Thoughts: I'm tempted to just give this the full 5 stars despite the fact that it had no words because I kid you not, I haven't been made this emotional by a book in months!
Sad, happy, worried, excitedI was all over the place! I freaking cried. So not what I was expecting after the first volume was basically a silly steampunk porno. I can't believe I almost didn't even read this. Longer review soon! View 2 comments. Once again you can read it completely for free on Jess Fink's website but there is also a print edition releasing on the 14th of February.
This story actually starts before the first book begins but I would definitely recommend reading them in order because it spans a much larger length of time and continues beyond the end of Chester XYV. We a 1st read - January 2nd read - August If you enjoyed the first book in this series then you're bound to love this one just as much if not more.
We already met Isabelle in the first book but this story allows us to get to know her and her husband George much better from how they met and married through to when Isabelle was introduced in the first book. I have to say I like George a LOT more than I liked Robert but we actually get the chance to see more of Robert here too and he wasn't as bad as I initially thought he was. We get to see just why he became so work obsessed and started neglecting Priscilla and that made him an easier character to like.
As with the first book Chester YXV: Isabelle and George is written completely without dialogue so it's impressive how well you are able to connect with all of the characters and understand what motivates them without them ever speaking. The artwork was just as impressive and I think this had more of an actual story than the first book. I hope that this isn't the last we've seen of these characters, the web comic hasn't been updated in a year but the book is only just being released in print so perhaps there is still more to come.
Source: Read for free online at Jess Fink's website Feb 10, Amy! I really enjoy how much story and characterization Jess Fink is able to include between the porn without any words. This volume is actually a lot less porny than the first one, but the story makes it a really enjoyable read, and it has a really sweet conclusion for all these characters. Aug 31, Jo rated it it was amazing. George is a darling and that is all I have to say on the matter.

I loved this book so much! Jess Fink does quite a swell job creating cute boys. This installment introduces a new character George and I was swooning over him at first sight. I crushed hard on the inventor Robert in the first book so I was floating on cloud nine when these two cuties met.
Also, I enjoyed this book a bit more than its predecessor. The explicit sex is included, but this book focuses a bit more on story and development of the characters. I really felt a bit more for the I loved this book so much! I really felt a bit more for the characters throughout the story this time around.
This book also plays the role of sequel and prequel. The way the events are played out are very cleverly done. Thank you Jess Fink!

Me: It disturbs me when I have to alphabetize pen names like Oh! Great and Marquis de Panasewicz. It helps that Fink balances plot and sex scenes deftly: in Chester XYV , an inventor inadvertently creates the perfect sex robot, Chester, for his sexually voracious wife, Pricilla, when he becomes too busy attend to her needs. Pricilla and Chester fall in love; complications ensue. For example, when Chester and Pricilla make love out-of-doors, the panels have arboreal flourishes. When Fink is delivering information more straightforwardly — distant dinners, arguments — they straighten out into a squat six-panel layout.
